Gala Fundraiser Nov. 3

Starting 6 pm at the Lindsay Armoury.  Our fifth annual gala will feature a dinner of homemade salad, shepherd’s pie, lasagna, and dessert with vegan and gluten-free options.  There will be a silent auction and short live auction followed by music and dance. It’s sure to be a fun night:- all for $30 per person.  Contact Sue at 705-340-2313 or Maurice at 705-559-6951 for tickets or to volunteer.  Or, click contact.

Children’s Exams

October will be a stressful time for Jackson, Hasifa, Brenda, and Sandra.  At the end of Ordinary level school (secondary 1-4), children in Uganda write a national examination.  The results of that exercise determines whether they will be eligible to join Advanced level (secondary 5-6) with potential for University application, or apply for Vocational school, so there is a lot riding on this performance.  Scores are released early in the new year.  All our best wishes to them for great results!

Musicfest Fundraiser

Successful second annual Kings Wharf Musicfest

This was held on the last weekend of August and will become an annual event on that weekend.  Despite the wet weather, we had a good turnout and the money raised matched last years’ total.  Even more importantly, everyone present enjoyed the great tunes, the crafts and contests, the food and the general camaraderie.  Many thanks to the wonderful musicians:

Registered Charity

Charitable organization status effective Aug 22/18.

We received this good news in mid-September, the day of our board meeting!  This is the culmination of fourteen months’ work with Canada Revenue Agency since our application was first submitted.  We can now issue tax receipts to donors and sponsors.
